Society of IEEE. Member of the Executive Directive Committee of IEEE Spain.
Some data: Electrical Eng. (1995) from University Nacional de La Plata,
Bs. As., Argentina; Master (1997) and Doctorate (2001) from University Federal
de Santa Catarina, SC, Brazil; Post-doctorate (2005) at INESC Porto, Oporto,
Portugal. He developed research in power system laboratories at CEPEL, Río de
Janeiro, Brazil, and INESC Porto, Portugal.
Current areas of professional interest and research: application of
optimization methods in power system operation and deregulated markets.

Books
Optimization Advances in Electric Power Systems.
This book
includes some of the most significant present and foreseen optimization
applications in electric power systems. Four Fellow Members of IEEE and other
relevant academia and industry authors developed optimization techniques in the
following areas: state estimation, transmission expansion planning, electricity
markets, voltage control, wind power, security stability, optimal placement of
equipment, distributed generation and others. All the chapters include
algorithms, methods, know-how and examples of applications in real and test
systems.
Wind Energy in Electricity Markets with High Wind
Penetration
This book
includes a detailed description of short term wind power prediction programs,
an evaluation of the economic losses due to imbalances incurred by wind
generators participating in an electricity market, and optimization strategies
aimed at minimizing the consequences of power curtailments.
